What are four forces of flight?

There are four forces of flight that act on an aircraft: lift, weight, thrust, and drag.

  1. Lift: Lift is the force that counteracts the weight of the aircraft and allows it to become airborne. It is generated by the movement of air over the wings of the aircraft.

  2. Weight: Weight is the force exerted on the aircraft due to gravity. It acts downward towards the center of the earth.

  3. Thrust: Thrust is the force generated by the propulsion system of the aircraft, such as the engines. It acts in the direction the aircraft is moving.

  4. Drag: Drag is the force that opposes the motion of the aircraft and is caused by the resistance of the air to the aircraft's movement. It acts in the opposite direction of the aircraft's motion.
